Flossing Winning Smile Dental Group IL 60201Flossing too much can become a problem for your mouth. Flossing is great for the mouth and for your oral health, but doing it too much can actually cause damage. It can literally do more harm than good.

Having a healthy balance between brushing and flossing is essential. Knowing some other ways to keep the mouth clean can also help you get more out of your oral health without it being damaging to your mouth.

Flossing Too Much is a Problem

Flossing your teeth too much is a problem, especially if you are rough when you do it. Not only can this cut into the gums and cause issues including infections, uncomfortable feelings, bleeding and more, but it can actually cause damage to the root of the tooth.

When the person flosses too much, the tooth itself can cause painful, red, and swollen. Plus, you can wind up with tender gums due to the floss irritating the area too much.

It is important that flossing is done once a day. Brushing should be done two, occasionally three times per day.

If you are concerned about your oral health, rinsing your mouth with mouthwash or with plain water can help you remove build up and particles that might be on or in between your teeth.

You can also use sugar-free gum to help remove this build up, as well. You could benefit from adding these into your everyday routine instead of flossing multiple times per day.
