Bad breath, halitosis, or whatever you want to call it is embarrassing. No one wants to have bad breath, especially if you have to go out in public or will be around other people.
But what can you do to deal with it? If your breath doesn't feel very fresh, you may reach for mouthwash, gum, or a breath mint. Unfortunately, these things may not always be available or may not be appropriate to use at the time.
Fortunately, there are some foods you can eat that will actually freshen your breath. Even better, many of these foods are available at fancy dinner parties, at restaurants, and at receptions.
You know that weird bit of green stuff that many restaurants put on your plate for decoration? Don't immediately set it off to the side. Parsley contains natural oils that will freshen your breath. Rosemary and basil do the same, so look for these garnishes if you know you may be suffering from bad breath (or if you order a meal with a lot of garlic!).
Another easy trick to getting rid of bad breath and freshening your mouth is to add some lemon to your water. Lemon and other fruits high in vitamin C help to get rid of bad breath. Simply order a glass of water with lemon and you're set.
Strawberries, Blackberries, and Blueberries
Berries have a number of vitamins and other natural minerals that help keep your breath smelling good, plus they're high in antioxidants and are very good for you. Many receptions and other events with finger foods will have a fruit tray available.
Hone in on the different berries on that tray to keep your breath fresh for the event. If you're at a restaurant, some salads include berries, plus you may be able to order a side of fruit with your meal.
While these foods will freshen your breath, all they're truly doing helping you deal with the symptoms of a larger problem. To really find out what's causing your bad breath and deal with it permanently, you need to come see one of our dental experts. Give us a call today to book your appointment.
