These days people are becoming concerned about the look of their teeth. They want to make a good impression and want their smile to look its best. Though you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, many people do. That is where cosmetic dentistry comes in.
Dentistry has come a long way and we have far more tools than we did to make your teeth look their best. Our toolbox has grown from just being able to cap chipped teeth to be able to fill gaps without braces. We can make your teeth whiter and make that last as long as you, take care of it.
You now have choices of treatments depending on your situation and what you hope to accomplish. We can help you determine what would work best considering your budget, what you want to do, and what treatment would work best for your teeth.
When Do I Need a Veneer?
Whitening your teeth and veneer placement are among the most popular treatments people request from us. Most of the time our patients simply want whiter teeth, covering up the discoloration caused by tobacco use or drinking coffee, soda or tea. If your stain is just on the surface and doesn't affect the underlying dentin layers, then teeth whitening is probably the way to go. Keep in mind that any decay or gum problems will have to be fixed before the whitening process can begin.
On the other hand, if your goal is to correct gaps, crooked teeth or uneven teeth, and your teeth and gums are in good shape, a veneer may be the better choice. Tooth whitening is not permanent. It can stain and discolor especially if you smoke or drink coffee, tea and soda. Veneers cause permanent changes to your tooth structure to enable us to properly fit the veneer, but with porcelain veneers, you have less worry of discoloration recurring.
