It Is Important You Do Not Bleach Your Teeth Too Much

Like a lot of people, you may really like the look of clean, white teeth. There is nothing better than looking at your smile and being happy with what you see. However, did you know that if you overclean and overbleach your teeth, you could end up in worse shape than if you left your teeth alone?
It's true. If you're not sure what we mean by overbleaching your teeth, keep reading. We want you to know that while white teeth are great, over-white teeth are not.
Over-whitened Teeth = Oversensitive Teeth If you are using an over the counter product to whiten your teeth, there are specific instructions on the box that tell you how long you should whiten your teeth. The box also tells you how many days in a row you can whiten your teeth. Many people feel that if they double the time they bleach their teeth, they will double their whiteness. However, that is not the case. In fact, when you use over the counter products to whiten your teeth, you can cause real problems for your dental health if you bleach them.
One reason you shouldn't over-whiten your teeth is because the bleaching agents use products to whiten that could strip the enamel from your teeth. Your enamel could also be left very thin in places, especially the front surfaces of your teeth. The over-whitening of your teeth may mean that the front of your tooth is weaker than the back of your teeth. Also, if you strip away all of the protectants for your tooth enamel, you might actually let acids and bacteria linger on your tooth's surface, which will cause them to yellow faster.
